Damon felt like a dark, crushing wave of nothingness had just harshly deposited him onto the ground of an unfamiliar terrain. It was a curious feeling of déjà vu in the sense that he had felt someone else feel this feeling, but he had not felt it himself. Until now, that was, but that was the point. It was something he hadn't felt in the entire seven-hundred-whatever-it-was-on-human-calendars years of his life, and it wasn't pleasant. He realized that it was the feeling of waking up. Of... waking up? Damon didn't sleep. Ever. He had never needed sleep. What was the last thing he had done before this?... Not registered in his memory, apparently.
It also dawned on Damon that he could not see. He instantly started searching for life forms. Nothing. He had to move on his own with nothing to go off of. Not a moment of his attempted movement had gone by before his face smacked into something. He felt pain. Not like when he felt it through other people. It was real, right here, on his face. That wasn't good, either. He decided that he didn't like pain.
Damon sensed something nearby. He didn't know what it was, which was new to him as well, but he tried to see through its eyes... and failed. Because it wasn't looking. Because it... it couldn't see. Okay. He could deal with that. ...He couldn't deal with that. That was a lie. Damon started moving towards the thing, and he realized that it was actually just asleep, and its eyes were closed. Fine. He would wake it up.
When he got fairly close the the being, Damon was suddenly hit by what felt like that crushing wave of darkness combined with the feeling of his face crashing into whatever-it-was. Except all over his back. And the whatever-it-was was covered in that poofy cloth kind of like that intrusive girl with a superiority complex. Damon hissed in half-pain, half-shock, and started trying to slither out from under whatever-it-was.

Jillian groaned, feeling an uncomfortable slithery thing beneath her. There wasn't supposed to be a slithery thing under her. It was supposed to be the soft, velvet cushions of her casket back in her tower. Her eyes opened to harsh light, causing her to hiss quite loudly. The hiss trailed off when she realized SHE WASN'T ON FIRE. WHY WASN'T SHE ON FIRE? "Aigoo," she muttered, finally sitting up and getting off the awful slithery thing. She rubbed her temple with one hand while the other searched around for her hat. Instead, it landed on the face of a boy.

Ailm opened his eyes. What was today? Were his friends up yet? Were they going somewhere, did they have any missions? Ailm yawned and was about to sit up, when he felt a hand on his face. ....Something was on him. Had he not noticed the immense pressure of it yet? How could that have happened? More importantly, what was it? Ailm wasn't quite strong enough to push the whateveritwas off his back, but he did manage to wiggle out from underneath it. After letting the pain sink in for a moment, Ailm jumped to his feet. What was that thing? It looked like a humanoid...thing with a spiky green tail. Oh Neil Kayks, was that thing alive? Sure enough, it seemed to be breathingorsomething. "I feel threatened by your existance!" announced Ailm. "Who are you and why are you here?" Then, after looking up,"And where the heck are we?"

Damon instantly shot forward when the whatever-it-was came off him, wondering if it was expecting him to hiss back again, since it had responded. Instead of hissing, though, he knew that the being must be awake, so he instantly started looking around through its eyes, which it thankfully had. Another voice sounded, and he tried to see more through them. This one wasn't hissing. Damon decided to reply to it, because it was the only semi-familiar-sounding thing he'd heard since... he had awoken. Damon was not going to get over that. "By my existence?" he replied, turning until he was sure he was facing the boy and tilting his head slightly. "Well, that's fine, then. Not much I can do about humans' threatened feelings. Assuming, of course, that you are human. Who I am is Damon. Why I'm here is probably a more complicated question. As for where we are, I don't recognize what's in front of you and I don't really know what's behind you, except that it is painful to smash your face into it."

Ailm was stunned. He'd thought that the green thing was a tail! Nope, it was some ugly, fancy-looking, ugly, talking snake-thing, seperate from the other creature.
"Um, yes, I am human," Ailm replied, now more curious than threatened. "But since you clearly aren't, what are you? Why do you make it sound like I'm a part of you?

"Oh, well, good," Damon said. "At least you're not a dog. Humans always seem to associate snakes and dogs, especially when they're frustrated, but I guess their minds aren't working properly when they're so worked up." His horns twitched back in slight annoyance at the next question. He was obviously a snake. Humans made no sense. "I'm a mutated grass snake. And whatever I sound like to you must be your ears' fault, because I haven't anything sound like we are attached. What sort of sound do you propose that would be, anyway? However... I can't see and you can, so it's only logical that I wouldn't be able to tell what's behind you. Nobody's looked at it yet, so how could any of us know? Unless one of us was a bat, which wouldn't make sense at all." He gestured with his tail towards the whatever-it-was behind him. "Also, does that look like sleep to you? I've never seen it before, so I wouldn't know."

Ailm gave up on trying to understand this snake creature. He probably would have left, too, but neither of them knew where they were, and two heads are better than one, he'd always heard. Although that expression had always confused him, because who would want to take care of two heads? Would both of them share control of the body? Or would one of them be unable to control anything but its/his/her/theirself, forcing the other head to keep it alive? Anyway, Ailm was just going to pretend that that expression meant that two people can solve problems faster than one. Or something. "There's something behind me?" replied Ailm finally. This Damon guy had a point. If no one had ever seen something, did it really exist? Did it have a true form? Did- was that annoyance in Damon's expression? Whatever. Ailm turned to look at the... thing that was appearantly there. And, well, it sure was a thing. "It's like... A stone slab of some sort. It feels kind of... powerful." Ailm opened his mouth again to begin a speech on how his Sponge Cake felt powerful in the same way, but Damon was almost definently annoyed now.

"Powerful," Damon repeated in a thoughtful tone, slithering up to it. He thought he felt it too, but since he didn't know what the human was feeling, he didn't know if he himself was feeling the same thing. With considerable effort, he drew more of his body off of the ground and got on top of the stone. There was something different about the top of it, though. "What's this?" he said, since humans generally looked at things when asked what they were, and he wanted to see what it was.

((SORRY! I HADN'T CHECKED!!)) Jillian was struggling to adjust to the bright light she hadn't seen in three hundred years. "Hand me my darned hat and I'll help you mortal idiots," she growled, trying to block the sun.

((XP FINE!!!)) Ailm awkwardly shuffled away from the mysterious stone slamb towards the hat that lay a few feet from the... talking thing. Then, stand as far as he could, Ailm placed it on top of the creature's face. Jumping away, Ailm asked,"Who are YOU, then?"

Jillian adjusted her hat, and squinted at the yelling boy. She stood up and raised her hands in her favorite intimidate-person-in-a-witch-lich-way pose. Flames would shoot out behind her as she cackled and said, "I am Jillian! The Queen of all vampires! And, more importantly, I'm a lich!" But, no flames. Her speech was the same; the spell in her head was the same; it should have been perfect. "Please, imagine flames and the scent of brimstone for a few moments before I begin panicking."

"Hmm," Damon murmured, the tip of his tail twitching. "I'll consider it. Also, why begin panicking? Everyone's doing alright without it, and I can't think how it would help."

"Because there SHOULD be fire and brimstone and whatnot. I'm a bloody lich! My magic isn't working!" Jillian replied, her voice growing higher and louder as she spoke.

As the snake-thing and the thing-thing argued or whatever they were doing, Ailm went go inspect the stone slab.
It was less than a foot shorter than him, with the top being about fifty inches off the ground. It was about a foot thick and five feet wide. In the center of the side nearest them was a circle with a radius of about a foot. It was made of a different substance than the rest of the slab; this part appeared to be some sort of crystal, and felt like the source of the mysterious power. Topping the whole structure was a large tablet which appeared to be the same type of rock. This tablet had an eight-sided indent, with a small object sat in the center.
"Hey, Damon! Jello! Come look at this!" Ailm beckoned his new companions.

"You don't look very bloody," Damon commented. "Also, my situation is mysteriously similar to yours in the respect that your magic isn't working. Must be the atmosphere. It feels positively stuffy- actually, negatively, because it's a bad thing, and I should stop using human expressions that don't make sense, but I won't because I don't really feel like it- Like if using magic was breathing, I'd be suffocating on the air. If I actually needed to breath, that i- ohthatsquiteinterestingiseemtobeextractingcertaingasesfromtheairandejectingtheotheronesandthisfeelsquitediscriminatoryactuallywhatiswrongwithmyinnerorganstheyaresointolerantandrudeandidoapologizetotheairformyorgansrudebehavior."
Damon obligingly pretended to look down at the stone slap he was already situated upon.

Was this Damon guy some madman (madsnake?) who actually belived air to be sentient?
Ailm waited patiently for either the Grass-type snake or the non-flaming lichwitch to provide their analysis of the stone/crystal thing.

((If Damon could still read minds, he would metaphorically applaud Ailm for that correction. XD))
Damon continued to pretend to look at the rock, then said, "That's a corner piece," and proceeded to lift the small object on top with the tip of his tail. With no visible reaction to the fact that the piece had turned completely black upon him lifting it from its surface, he put it back down on the corner of the stone slab's surface, where it regained its original color.

Ailm was confused. "A... Corner piece? Piece of what?" He had no idea what Damon thought this thing was, and was more distracted by its pretty color magic.
