"Indeed, it's an odd sort of sound for one to hear in a cave," Damon replied.

Ailm continued warily in the direction of the sound. Finally, he came upon a dead end, where he noticed a large, spherical thing that looked like an egg and a... "Whyisthathugelumpoffurshapedlikeacube?"

Damon followed him and stared at the indicated thing. "Why don't you tell us?" Damon said. "It makes about as much sense as human logic anyway, so you should have an easy time explaining it."

Ailm turned and faced Damon to tell him how completely and utterly stupid that was. However, the snake's schmogical comment somehow made him realise what it was. "That," said Ailm, no longer in control of his own words,"is a cube cat. It is a very dangerous and violent creature. At birth, it has seven hundred twenty-nine lives, whatever that means, but this one is old; it appears to have only one life remaining." Then,"Whoa. How did thise words happen?"

"No bloody clue. But I call it, I'm STARVING!" With that, Jillian leapt upon the cube cat, but hesitated before she bit its neck. "This is cool with y'all, yes?"

Before anyone could resond, the ball-shaped egg began to hatch revealing a baby cube cat. Upon hearing it's newborn baby, the mother cube cat roared and began to attack the noncats. "Oh, fudge cake," muttered Ailm.

"There are so many languages you could use to discuss your stress with me," Damon said, turning to slip out of the way of the attacks, "but of course you just roar like an uneducated, brainless beast. Not to insult you if you actually don't have a brain, but in that case you wouldn't be able to understand me. But still! You had seven hundred twenty-eight-and-an-unidentified-fraction lives to think your life over, and what were you even DOING‽" With this, he shot forward and swung his tail around to hit the cube cat with the spikes on the end.

Jillian was stuck clinging to the Cube Cat until the OBVIOUS response occurred to her. "'ll take care of your baby!" she shrieked before clamping down with her teeth as Damon's tail smacked the raging beast.

The cube cat moaned loudly. Not quite dead, but greatly imobilized. The cat's tail began waving frantically, the creature's last remaining hope. Ailm dodged a flurry of attacks, landing against a wall. Finally, out of places to jump, Ailm held his arms in front of his face to block the impending tail attack. However, at the last second he felt a familiar rush of power. Could that be... It was! It was his Sponge Cake's ReSponge ability! This sudden burst of power allowed Ailm to redirect the cubecat's tail back at the monster. With a final roar, the beast fell, dead at last. Ailm collapsed too, although not dead; just stunned and exhausted. Not sure what else to do, he let out a cry of,"TEAMWORK!!" ((Start putting in your characters' finsl thoughts! Chapter one is nearly finished! Feel free to RP the newborn cubecat.))

"Teamwork? I would summarize it more as multiple beings lashing out with uncoordinated attacks and just so happening to time it right in order to... Well, we have now succeeded in murdering a mother who was trying to defend its child. We have also, however, failed in bringing joy and happiness to whatever places we go to. You gain some, you lose so- what am I even saying? The second one is a stupid concept anyway! Who would want to spread joy and happiness? That requires massive hypnotism and an enchantment on areas that takes more magic energy than cleaning rooms does physical energy for humans. Because that is apparently the most difficult task for a young human, of course the full-grown ones force them to do it in order to train them to become great warriors... of... picking things up. So exciting. This is exactly why the human race does not make any sense to me. As for this small cube cat, hello there, small animal, we are now going to abandon you to live on your own in a cave with no mother. You have a ninety-five percent chance of dying within three days of starvation. I would wish you good luck, but that doesn't really matter here."

"..." Ailm stared blankly at everything. "But don't cubecats have..." Then he gave up, having learnt better about dealing with Damon at this point. Ailm threw his arms out again. This time, however, his hand landed on a small object. "Hey! It's a puzzle piece!"

"This might have been less tragic if you had found that earlier so we could leave," Damon said. "Not that a human would find it sad anyway. What's done is... what's done happened in the past. And I can't time travel!"

Sighing, Ailm decided to just give Damon the puzzle piece. "Happy now? Let's go back." And he marched back towards the exit of the cave, leading the way back to the puzzle.

((Okay, I'll kind of just keep on from where we left off, then...))
"Haow do you exshpect me to cahrry thish? I'm not shykik," Damon said to Ailm as they exited the cave, annoyed at human ignorance, holding the puzzle piece lightly in his mouth. When they got outside, he put it down on the ground. "Humans have convenient nonpsychic limbs that they can use to hold things without impaired speech and so they assume everyone can do the same! News flash, very bright and in your eyes painfully, no, a lot of other animals can't! You... you shouldn't assume..." Damon trailed off. What was that? He had sounded... angry. He had felt angry, actually. It was worse to feel it yourself than to detect others feeling it. Yet it was also oddly satisfying, like he was getting rid of weight that he hadn't known he had carried. How strange. If this was how other creatures felt all the time, he wanted no part in it. What scared him was that he wasn't sure how much control he had over himself anymore.

((Wassup? Andrew demanded that I rp and I don't want him to threaten my family again, so...))
When Aaera came into consciousness, she was aware of something rather sharp poking her in the back between her wings. She slowly opened her eyes and sat up. It was rather dark, but it appeared that she was in a sort of cave. She stood, fluttered her wings, and began to follow a faint trail of body heat she felt beneath her bare feet. She followed the path, but it didn't take very long before she saw three figures moving ahead of her. She eyed them warily, but followed silently as they progressed through the unfamiliar cave. She watched them from several paces back, making no comment, for quite a long while. She didn't know how long. Time didn't feel quite right in this place. Something told her that she was no longer on her home world, although she had no idea how she could have gotten here, or where "here" even was. Eventually, she saw light and the strangers exited the cave. She ducked behind a large reddish-brown rock. One of the figures, a curious creature which seemed to be male but looked nothing like the other two turned it's head towards her. She ducked further behind the rock, her wings fluttered defensively and she instinctively drew on the heat in the air, making thin skin of fire around her shoulder blades (where her wings touched her back) and in her palms. Her power was weaker than usual in this place, which still worried her, but she could still control the flames a little. She could only hope that the strangers were not indigenous to this world and therefore at the same disadvantage. That is, assuming that all creatures indigenous to this planet had any powers at all. She'd been watching the strangers for a while, and they didn't seem particularly predatory, although the female's sharp teeth were a bit unnerving. She reasoned that the female might be carnivorous, but not necessarily cannibalistic. Then again... they had killed that mama cube cat so easily. However, it seemed that the cat had been violent towards them, most likely mistaking them for a danger to her baby. Aaera supposed that the strangers did not have the knowledge or skill to pacify an enraged animal. "Hmmm... strange," she whispered to herself, then clamped a hand over her mouth, worried that she had been heard.

Ailm was about to reply to Damon's "comment" on arms when he felt a defininte shift in magical energy. He glanced at Damon, giving him a "did you feel that?" look, but kept walking towards the enterance of the cave. Finally, when they had returned to the sunlight, Ailm heard a voice. He quickly spun around to see the feminine figure kneel beside a nearby rock. Taking this as an oppurtunity to look like a real cool (non-cubical) cat, Ailm said, "Am I correct to assume that you are from another world?"

"Hey, this one seems to have nerves and muscles inside of its wings," Damon said, facing the newcomer to show that he was talking about her, but flicking one horn in a significant gesture towards Ailm- specifically the wings on his jacket. Also realizing that Ailm was not picking up the puzzle piece that he had put down, Damon located it on the ground from memory and picked it up with the flat part of the end of his tail. He then flicked his tail in a very precise way that launched the little piece at Ailm's head. "Although you do have functioning appendages as well, such as hands, which is why you should be carrying this if you want it to come along with us."

Jillian leaped in the way of the puzzle piece and shoved it in a handy beaded handbag that hadn't been noticed previously. "Hello, sweetie. I'm Jillian, but if you want, you can call me Auntie Jilli. That little boy's nice enough, but the snake-y dude's not so rad. Where are you from?" Jillian spoke gently and slowly as she inched forward, trying not to frighten the winged creature. It probably would have helped if she'd wiped the blood off her face, but she generally wasn't a messy eater.

Aaera tilted her head slightly, shooting the strangers a nervous glance. They didn't seem unkind... or at least the woman- Jillian, she said- wasn't. The others still kept her on edge. After a moment, she said quietly, "Drakia. I woke up here... not entirely sure where here is... and my fire isn't as strong..." She fluttered her wings helplessly. She glanced at the different-looking creature and her brow furrowed. "The one of the Viperidae family... I think... is different from you. Did you not all come from the same place?"

Curious now, Ailm dropped his tough kid act. "No, we hadn't met until we awoke here. Do you remember exactly where you were when you opened your eyes?"
